🍲 How to Make Ewedu
✅ Ingredients
• Fresh ewedu leaves (jute leaves)
• Water
• A pinch of salt
• Potash (optional, helps soften the leaves)
• Ground crayfish (optional)
• Locust beans (iru) – optional
👩🍳 Preparation Method
- Wash the ewedu leaves thoroughly to remove dirt.
- Put a small amount of water in a pot and bring to boil.
- Add the ewedu leaves into the boiling water.
- If using, add a tiny pinch of potash to help soften the leaves.
- Allow the leaves to cook for about 3–5 minutes.
- Blend or mash the cooked leaves using a blender, broomstick blender, or traditional ewedu broom (ijabe).
- Add salt, crayfish, or locust beans if desired.
- Stir well and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Your ewedu soup is ready to serve!
